I'd really recommend trying to apply the advice in the Wesleyan Life article, Making the Bible Come to Life, to your own devotions. Practice #2 especially has made my own devotions so much more meaningful. Instead of just reading the Bible, I have conversations with God.

I really like what the pastor before breakout had to say on reading your bible Chelsea hopefully you can help me out with his name. He gave us the acronym S.O.A.P. S standing scripture, O standing for observation, A standing for Application, and P for prayer. I think the acronym is fairly self explanatory but I have started to this use and it really seems to help with truly reading the word of God.
